Branding/Graphic Design FIT (Spring 2024)

Fashion x Water examines the environmental toll of fast fashion, grounded in research on textile pollution and its long-term effects. The project poses one question: what happens if we don't change course?

Across an infographic postcard, zine, poster, and event ad, the aesthetic embodies the message—layered compositions using real clothing, thread, and texture to visualize the excess and waste the industry produces.

SOLASTALGIA by Bea Fremderman. I chose this artist's work for the zine because it visualizes the project's core issue directly: textile waste accumulating in landfills, synthetic fabrics that never fully decompose. The imagery reinforces the research findings: our clothing doesn't disappear; it piles up.

The hand-drawn postcard anchored the project's data, using real colored threads as a visual key for textile pollution statistics—tactile and immediate rather than purely typographic. Each thread color mapped to a different data point, giving the information physical weight.

Spatial Design
FIT (Fall 2024)

I chose Vivienne Westwood after envisioning the brand's orb logo as a three-dimensional installation. Research into its history, aesthetic, and values led to a sculpture of four stacked orbs—white, red, pink, black—each ringed like Saturn and set at a deliberate slant. Built from polymer clay and mixed materials, the piece captures the brand's signature tension between tradition and rebellion, elegance and chaos, designed to function as both an in-store installation and the centerpiece of an advertisement poster.
The process began by shaping aluminum foil into balls as a base—light but strong enough to keep the structure firm. Polymer clay was layered over the foil, making it easy to shape and detail, then molded with an ornament to achieve a smooth texture. The foil core prevented the clay from collapsing or becoming too heavy under the fine detailing of the Orb, keeping the structure solid through handling and baking.

Vivienne Westwood founded her British luxury brand in the 1970s and became a defining voice of punk through her anti-establishment, avant-garde designs. Her boutique "SEX," co-founded with Malcolm McLaren, brought ripped fabric, safety pins, and norm-defying graphics into fashion. The 1981 "Pirate" collection pushed her into high fashion, while her advocacy for sustainability, climate action, and human rights shaped the brand's ongoing identity. Today, the label stands for creative independence and social consciousness across ready-to-wear, accessories, and fragrances.

Packaging Design
FIT (FALL 2024)
Kakao is a chocolate bar brand built around the concept of produce. Inspired by the small sticker labels on grocery store fruit, the brand reimagines that familiar detail as a full packaging identity.

Each flavor is treated as its own piece of produce, with the sticker aesthetic driving the logo, typography, and overall brand language. The result is a playful, cohesive system that feels at home in the grocery aisle while standing apart from everything else on the shelf.

The research explored chocolate bar branding and typography across the market, from playful, rounded letterforms on candy-forward packaging to dark, serif-heavy type on premium bars. That contrast revealed how much tone a typeface alone can carry, directly shaping Kakao's typography system: fun and approachable without sacrificing design integrity.

Branding/Graphic Design FIT (Spring 2025)Pas de Corbeau is a nonprofit brand centered on a subversive theatrical space that brings cabaret-style live performance back to New York City. The brand gives a dedicated platform to local performance artists, rooted in the history of jazz bars and live theater but evolved for today. The logo and brand identity reflect that balance — elegant and theatrical, intimate yet modern.
Pas de Corbeau - French for "step of a crow"- borrows the structure of ballet terminology like Pas de Chat and Pas de Cheval, while rejecting everything those traditions stand for. The name says it all: rooted in history, but entirely its own.

Pas de Corbeau is built for the visionaries, those who challenge the norm and seek meaning beyond the mainstream. By offering local artists free spaces to perform, the nonprofit fills a long-overlooked gap in New York City's art community, putting raw expression and community above everything else.

Developing the logo and brand identity meant translating all of that into a visual language, elegant and theatrical, with the weight of performance history behind it and the edge of something subversive underneath.
